and large 38mm x 43mm x 12mm thick (hollow) prayer box pendant with ten dangles

strung in trade bead fashion with native rafia grass

Mixed Shapes Carnelian Strand Brass these dangles measure approximately 29mm28" strand of tabular, cylindrical, round, and bear claw shaped carnelian stone, finely cut and drilled in Idar Oberstein, Germany, and traded in Mali, West Africa in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Tabular are 32mm diameter x 6mm thick; Cylinders are 17mm diameter x 36mm tall; 2 20mm diameter round beads, 2 34mm tall x 5mm thick bear claws in the center. This is an excellent example of German Idar Oberstein stone cutting, material mined in Brazil.
