The gear cogs slips or breaks its a very very common problem mainly caused by using old sticky tape or using studio thicker tape the R8 was designed to use the thinner tape for home use

This board has a different chip than later models please check the revision on yours as they maybe are not compatible

I was not sure were this came from but i can only think its was the A-4

This is the DBX PCB, I noted that this can be cut in half, I am ok if you only need one side for half price.
