RARE 1860s CDV Photo OIL CITY Boom Town McClintockville Pennsylvania History photos and in very good antiqueVery rare 1860s CDV of the burgeoning, pre Civil War oil town of McClintockville (also McClintocksville) at Oil Creek Oil City, PA.. The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, Drake Well Museum Collection owns on of the few other known copies of this CDVthis is the only example I have ever seen for sale. In 1859, Colonel Edwin L. Drake drilled the first commercially successful oil well nearby, creating several petroleum boomtowns in the area.
