After the duo had broken off from an early iteration of Kraftwerk in 1971, they immediately went to work on the album. Recorded in just four nights in December 1971 in Star Studios in Hamburg by Plank, who had also worked with Kraftwerk. This album marks the first appearance of Dinger's 'motorik' beat, which became a trademark of the band's sound.
