Since 1950 Jaguar had been building large saloon cars, starting with the Mk VII. In 1958 the final derivative arrived, the Jaguar Mk IX. The Mk IX utilised the famous XK engine which had evolved into a powerful 3. 8 litre unit, producing 220 hp, enough to make this large car capable of a top speed of 117mph.
