Carole Lombard, American film actress Tsutaya Juzaburo with an introduction by GilbertCarole Lombard, American film actress, c1938. Born Jane Alice Peters, Carole Lombard (1908 1942) was one of Hollywood's top comedy stars of the 1930s. Her career was tragically cut short when she was killed in a plane crash in January 1942 while returning to California from a war bond rally in Indiana.
