Southwell wears a brown shoulder length wig, white shirt with lace at the cuffs, lace neck cloth and brown robe. His right hand rests against the chair arm, index finger slightly extended. Robert Southwell was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1663, he served as its President from 1690 to 1695. Original: oil on canvas, 1270x1016mm. ca.
