The ammonites are approx. 1 x 14" by 14" (large), 2 x 9" by 8" (medium) and 2 x 7" by 6" (small). In medieval Europe, fossilised ammonites were thought to be petrified coiled snakes, and were called "snakestones" or, more commonly in medieval England, "serpentstones".
