Remarkable Collection of Six Oval Bride's Boxes or "Brautschachteln" Creations Modelled in Swimming PostureIndividually Painted in the Folk Art Tradition Steam Bent and Paint Decorated Pine Continental c. 1780 c. 1830 8 high x 17 wide x 10. 75 deep Provenance: Private Collection, Netherlands. Condition: Boxes of this type were individually decorated to commission in Central Europe from c1600 1850 and were traditionally offered as dowry gifts or love tokens. Colourfully decorated and fashioned from very fine bentwood in regional styles, they form a
