Educated at Rugby School, Vaughan (1816 1897) took orders in 1841, becoming vicar of St Martin's, Leicester. He was Headmaster of Harrow School from 1844 1859, became Master of the Temple in 1869 and Dean of Llandaff in 1879. He had a reputation as an eloquent preacher and wrote extensively on a wide range of theological subjects. Vaughan was actively involved in the
