There are 4 motors in the Fostex R8 two for the FF and REW one for the main capstan and this little one which engages the capstan gears and lifts the tape lifter

Fostex R8 front plastic panel Variant:Standard no ears fixings or heads etc areThis is the standard front panel for the Fostex R8, it often gets damaged especially where the feet are, but its easy to replace. this panel includes the channel panels covers, but not the Cactus ears or Pacman plastic by the tension arms. I can offer a cheaper cover for 22. 00 that has no channel panels , but f you are replacing a broken one then you will have them already. The channel panels (8 of them) are to stop dust getting in and need removing
