Sahara 99578 Ordinary Chondrite 1470g Main Mass with Polished Window jewelry This was classified by DrThis one is called Sahara 99578. Long ago, before the Meteoritical Bulletin existed, there wasn't a classification system for meteorites. During the mid to late 1990s, the Labenne family (Marc and his sons Jim and Luc) would hunt the Sahara Desert in Northwest Africa. With each meteorite they found, they painted a field number on it which was their way of cataloguing each one. This one has 99578 painted on it. It means it was found in 1999 and it's
