These rings were made after the king was executed in January 1649, and would have been worn by Royalists, probably mainly in private, to show support for the monarchy. This example is modelled in 22 karat gold, and features a finely hand painted portrait of Charles it dates from c. 1650. From 1642, Charles fought the armies of the English
