McCardell was known for her ability to make sportswear chic and she as one of the early designers to not just offer up a dress but she produced the entire look including sunglasses. I have included an ad from 1953 and also found examples of her work held at The Met. These are a great example with their bright metallic painted plastic frames. They are a classic cat eye with the original lenses. Marked Claire McCardell
