Sashiko is a method of hand stitching that originated in Japan. It is characterized by intricate, repeating designs created by stitching with cotton thread. It is used for mending garments that are worn out, reinforcing high wear areas, and to add beautiful geometric patterns just for fun. Sashiko stitching can be traced all the way back to the Edo period
