It is very heavy - the interior silk taffeta and velvet exterior combined with that silver metal braiding and huge glass rhinestones all add up in weight

flat pleat work and an example of how finely done a pleat can be - each is spaced perfectly and so finely done you hardly realize they are there until you look closely and realize that is what gives the skirt volume - only in couture would this be as the cost would be prohibitive in RTW to do this

Her specialty was formal wear and her signatures included embellishment mixed with decadent details. You would be hard pressed to find modern counterparts as finely done and constructed as far as the workmanship and detailing in one of her gowns. This one is absolutely beautiful and could easily be used as a wedding gown
